I suggest that you start posting some ads on www.kijiji or local newspapers, community centers..etc. also try to talk to people who work in organizations that frequently hold events such as job fairs, conferences, sale events, ..etc try to speak to them directly, present your self in a professional way and show them that you know what you are doing. from my experience, clients usually want to know what tools and techniques you use to manage an event or a project. a very good tool is the MS project software. this software will allow you to manage a project or an event in a very organized and professional manner and it also offers a generic templates such as scheduling, project charter, activity sequencing diagrams..etc. remember, the most important thing in business is to differentiate your service from your competitors'. just remember, when your business is still at the start-up phase, you shouldn't be too aggressive in the market, don't spend lots of time trying to steal clients from your competitors, this could be very costly especially when you are still starting up. so try to avoid competition. finally, make sure you document all your work as your client might request to look at them or to keep a copy of all the documents that you created during the project and make sure you document the all the lessons learned from each event and keep them on record as they are one of the most important assets for any organization especially if you are in event management business.
