As a new business, it will be impossible for you to compete on price with the established franchises.

The best possible chance of success is to find a niche market within the fast food sector and exploit it. Find a new type of fast food or focus on quality over price. Don't try and compete on the same playing field as the big boys, build your own playing field.

If you want to see a good price comparison and make your own choice, you can go to http://www.icehockeystickguide.com/?q=prices.

They have updated price information on hockeymonkey and totalhockey, not all the sites but at least something. they also do reviews.

  7. I can't tell you from first hand experience but this is what I think.
for your site to really be useful and competitive it needs to be updated at the time of query, that is everytime anyone asks for a price and items. I think this is important because of the changes that prices undergo almost in a daily basis. I have seen prices change many times in a day.
One of the best sites for me in this regard is http://Nextag.com.
This is just my opinion and I hope it helps. Good luck!

Price comparison sites are a very useful tool for online shoppers. Hence, even big companies are wanting to have their own price comparison sites

Yahoo bought Kelkoo, a leading European price comparison service, in 2004
eBay acquired Shopping.com in 2005 for about $620 million
Experian acquired PriceGrabber also in 2005 for $485 million

Notice the price tags these big boys paid for the price comparison sites.

Your challenge will be creating a search engine that will gather the price information from the online stores. And that will be a TOUGH challenge.

If you have the programming skills or the deep resources you need, this is a very good space. But if not, it will be extremely hard to make it work — unless you focus on niches (e.g price comparison site for baby goods only)
